On June 20, 2022, on the occasion of The World Refugee Day, members of Erguvan Association for Integration of Migrants visited a number of vulnerable Afghan families in different parts of Ankara.

One to one interviews were held with these refugee families where they had a chance to share their concerns and difficulties. The findings of these visits show that the socio-economic situation of Afghan families in Ankara is not very favorable. The recent developments in Afghanistan, in addition to the challenges of life as refugees, have led Afghan refugees to confront with a range of challenges, including psychological issues.

One of the major concerns is the lengthy processing of the asylum cases that leaves asylum seekers in a state of uncertainty for several years. Many families are financially incapable of meeting their needs, including medical treatment of patients and enrollment of girls and boys in higher education institutions.

The families welcomed the initiative taken by Erguvan leadership to visit them where they had a chance to speak about their challenges.
